Jelly Jillions: Slot Overview

Hold on to your teeth and tighten your belt; software provider ReelPlay takes a break from Hyper-ing, 10K-ing, and Infinity Reel-ing, to have a stab at the popular candied section of the market. The result is Jelly Jillions, and depending on where players reside, the name may have different meanings. For North Americans, jelly is what British-influenced speakers consider jam, while for others, jelly is that bouncy, sugary, gelatinous dessert. Sorry, didn't mean to get all morphological in the first paragraph, so let's bring it back to the task at hand – chomping our way through Jelly Jillions and seeing what it has to offer.

On the pictorial side, Jelly Jillions offers a candy-coated world where everything at ground level looks edible and sweet. A sort of yellow brick road winds through a pink, sweet encrusted landscape overlooked by a light blue, cloudy sky. A whimsical soundtrack provides the finishing touch on an audiovisual experience that is about as comfortingly typical or as cliched as a candy-themed slot gets. There's a suspicion candy fans will either be all over Jelly Jillions' familiarity, while others are ready to hurl at the thought of choking back another one of these sorts of games.

If you're in the former category, then choosing a bet will be one of the important first steps to plunge into Jelly Jillions' sugary domain. The options range from 20 p/c to $/€15, and Jelly Jillions does not come with bonus buy opportunities. It does come in two RTP variants to be on the lookout for, defaulting at 96.05% while being medium-high volatile to boot. The gaming is conducted on a 6x6 sized grid which uses a cluster pays system to award wins.

This means when at least 5 matching symbols land and are connected to each other in vertical or horizontal directions, a win is formed, and players collect some dough. Extra dough if a wild symbol is involved, because not only do wilds substitute for any pay symbol, they also multiply any symbol win they are a part of by x4. Eight regular pay symbols land in the game - all are candied objects of various shapes and colours. Hitting a cluster containing 5 matching non-wild symbols pays 0.15x to 1x the bet, while a 15+ non-wild cluster is worth 10 to 250 times the bet.

Jelly Jillions: Slot Features

Like its plain-looking candy symbols, Jelly Jillions keeps the features pretty plain as well. Here we've got a cascading wins system and Bonus Respins to take a gander over.

Cascading Wins

Symbols in winning clusters are removed from the reels by the cascade feature, which then drops symbols in from above to replace them. Cascades continue like this until no new win lands on the screen.

Bonus Respins

If you were wondering when the 4 prize values on the side of the reels come into play, this is the moment. When at least 5 scatter symbols land in view, players are awarded 3 Bonus Respins. The triggering scatters are held during the transition from base game to bonus round, and it takes place on a board that lands only scatters or blanks. Landing a new scatter locks it in place and resets the spin count back to 3. Scatters land, displaying a prize of 1 to 100x the bet or a bonus prize. The bonus prize can be the Mini, Minor, Major, or Grand worth 10x, 50x, 250x, or 2,000x the bet, respectively. When the round ends, the values of all scatters on the board are awarded. Bonus Respins have a hit rate of 1 in 98.04 spins.

Jelly Jillions: Slot Verdict

If Jelly Jillions was a candy bar, it's unlikely to have been made by someone as freakishly creative as Willy Wonka. It's no Whipple Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delight, in other words. The game sheet mentions the words 'Simple and sweet', and that's a good way of putting it. Jelly Jillions might look like something Pragmatic Pay could have dropped, perhaps, but it lacks the one (at least) innovation Pragmatic Play usually manages to inject into its slots. Candy slots, in general, often tend to look pretty cut and paste a lot of the time, held in pinky, pastely worlds full of junk food; not much you can do about that. But Jelly Jillions' gameplay is equally non-remarkable, doing little to nothing special to get all worked up about.

Basically, Jelly Jillions is a case of landing cluster wins and cascades until Bonus Respins trigger, then hope as many scatter symbols as possible hit to collect a decent win. Wins reach their maximum of 1,418x in the base game and 4,315.3x in the bonus round, so not exactly jillions. It's a bit dry, a bit plain, though the lack of complexity could be the thing which attracts some players. The experience brought to mind Hyper Respins but without the Bombs or Hyper symbols. In this era of bigger, more complex, and more ingenious, Jelly Jillions' simplicity is almost admirable.

On the other hand, it wasn't very exciting, nor were the features overly intriguing. It probably won't take long to see all that Jelly Jillions has to offer - the feature hit rate is relatively low, for example, so players will soon be able to judge whether Jelly Jillions is the uncomplicated candy wonderland they've been waiting for, or whether it's like buying a bulk bag of chocolate from a discount store which ends up tasting a bit weird.

Mediocre

Jelly Jillions’ simplicity is either its greatest strength or its biggest weakness, depending on your mood.
